ILLUSTRATED POSTCARDS

Between 2009 and 2010, the “Pro Loco Faedis” Association was finally able to complete a project, which had been going on for some time: printing illustrated postcards, a souvenir of Faedis, which had been absent from the shops for too many years. Every card features several picture shots of our territory, and a heartfelt cheer “Mandi da Faedis” (Hi from Faedis).

COMMUNE OF FAEDIS promotional pamphlet

In 2009 the “Pro Loco Faedis” Association collaborated with the Communal Administration for the release of a promotional pamphlet on the communal territory, supplying contents and pictures. In particular, they concentrated on preparing a map featuring all useful indications and information and the street map of the commune.

In 2006 the “Pro Loco Faedis” Association celebrated 40 years of activities servicing the Faedis Community, supporting numerous initiatives in the cultural, sports and economic fields and in territorial improvement. The latter context is the one intended for the present publication.
It took 10 years of work, unearthing and saving old pictures from the anonymity of private closets, in order to value them as historical documents of the Faedis Community and to remember people, anniversaries, places, which without a doubt could arouse a bit of nostalgia.
To sum it up: the history of Faedis told in photographs and pictures.

In setting up the exhibition documented by this catalog, the Municipal Board and the Pro Loco intended to give a well-deserved thanks to those people who suggested, as Artemisio PICCINI did, how even our small reality can be richly endowed with expressiveness.

The Communal Administration and the “Pro Loco Faedis” Association wished to pay homage to the memory of Lea D’Orlandi, polyhedral visual artist, a scholar of popular tradition and author of theatrical plays in the Friulian language. She turned Faedis into the “place” of her soul and, through her works, of ours as well.
